Engagement Sessions as a Las Vegas Portrait Photographer

Las Vegas is a transient town, and the Fremont area has an entire street dedicated to seedy wedding chapels. If you’re only knowledge of Las Vegas comes from pop culture, then you might think marriage is a taboo topic here. It’s not, but it IS a great location to celebrate your marriage.. And if you decide to celebrate your marriage in Las Vegas, it would be a good idea to consider hiring a Las Vegas portrait photographer. Not only will you have professional photographs to show your friends and family, you’ll have them to document memories that will last a lifetime.

Our Process

In typical Christian Purdie Photography fashion, we arrived to the shoot around 30 minutes early to scope out the best backdrops. After we decided where we wanted to shoot, we mapped out a game plan to make the most of our client’s time. It’s crucial to always keep the client’s best interest in mind when shooting portrait photographs. They hired you for a reason, and it’s important that you leave a good impression. Also, when you’re canvassing an area for prime photography, keep in mind the nature of your subjects. What area will make them look best? Does your setting really capture their essence?

Where to Shoot on the Strip

We’ve taken so many photographs on the Strip, finding great locations is like clockwork. The Las Vegas Strip is an iconic location that is perfect for a Las Vegas Photographer, and as an event photographer or a portrait photographer, a useful tool. There’s instant recognition when you see the fountains at Bellagio, and showing someone awesome photographs sends a slight twinge of envy through their mind, making them desire to have their next portraits taken in Las Vegas. First, we shot at the Linq because the background is expansive and offers a lot of of diversity. Then we went to the Bellagio fountains, because the rushing water and music triggers a sense of romance. Finally, we went inside then we took a picture near the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard, because it encompasses a elements of the Las Vegas Strip that are instantly distinguishable from all other parts of Vegas.

A Las Vegas Photographer Undercover

One of the many gems in Las Vegas is the Springs Preserve, a plot of land dedicated to showcasing the wildlife that thrives in the Mojave Desert. Complete with plants, a butterfly exhibit, and other natural life, the Springs Preserve offers a photographer a variety of excellent photographs. This last week, one of the photographers for Christian Purdie Photography was sent “undercover” to take pictures of a marriage proposal. Although it went very well, there are a few tips that should be kept in mind for future reference, especially if you’re going undercover.

Staying Organized as a Las Vegas Photographer

Whether you’re on a shoot for an individual portrait, or photographing an entire family, it’s crucial to stay organized. Not just organized with your gear, but organized with your time. What good is an organized photography bag if you don’t make the event on time because you forgot to schedule it in a calendar? Chaos builds off of chaos, which is why if you remain organized in the first place, you won’t have to deal with any large problems (within your control) at a shoot.
