Navigating the Conference Halls As A Las Vegas Tradeshow Photographer

Convention centers are necessarily huge places in order to house all the booths and the crowds that come along with them. As a Las Vegas tradeshow photographer, you’ve probably already planned out how you’re going to handle the crowds and the low lighting, but what about finding your way to your booth?

For a Las Vegas tradeshow photographer, one wrong turn can spell disaster. It’s stressful trying to figure out where you went wrong and get back to where you need to be with so many people packed around you. Many Las Vegas tradeshow photographers dread these conventions because it is so difficult to find their way around.

Fortunately, there are several things you can do to make yourself look more polished than other Las Vegas tradeshow photographers when it comes down to navigating these huge buildings.

Call ahead

If you know when the tradeshow is going to be early enough, call ahead and ask for a map of the area. This will give you a chance to study it and get familiar with it beforehand. You might think waiting for the day to arrive and simply asking for help from an employee might be the easiest way to go, but many of these employees were hired just for the conference and know as much as you do. A good photographer shouldn’t rely on chance in order to be on time.

Show up early

We’ve said this many times before, but showing up early is one of the most important things you can do to meet the expectations of your client. The Las Vegas photographer that shows up two hours early to explore and familiarize themselves with the territory is the photographer the client will be calling back next time they need a shoot done.

Think ahead

Convention centers are big and tiring to navigate, and you’ll probably be lugging a lot of heavy gear with you. You can make navigating more comfortable at least by making sure you can haul your gear as comfortably and safely as possible.

Your client is depending on their Las Vegas photographer to bring them quality shots of the tradeshow from beginning to end. Being the photographer they dream of is your job, and following these tips will go a long way towards satisfying their needs.
