As a Las Vegas event photographer, one of the more common—and to be blunt, more boring—events you will be attending are trade shows. Trade shows can be financially lucrative because they involve working long hours—sometimes as long as 8 to 10 hours, and sometimes you may be requested to attend for more than one day of the trade show—which translates to  higher earning potential as  Las Vegas event photographer.

Although trade shows can be lucrative, there are a few things you need to know about them in order to make the most of working as a Las Vegas event photographer at a trade show for any industry. The following are some key tips you should keep in mind while working at a trade show.

Tips for Working at a Trade Show

Trade shows are often long, sometimes boring, and they are an event that you definitely need to prepare for as a Las Vegas event photographer.

Tip #1: Wear comfortable shoes

You will likely be on your feet for most of the day as a Las Vegas event photographer at a trade show, so make sure you wear your most comfortable shoes. This will reduce the chances of your feet getting too sore to work properly.

Tip #2: Bring external lighting

The lighting inside trade show venues is notoriously awful, so it’s best to bring along your own external lighting in order to get the best results for the people or things you will be photographing. Bring at least one camera mounted light as well as an external tripod light.

Tip #3: Try to learn something new

Trade shows can be boring for photographers, but they don’t necessarily have to be: when you attend a trade show, make it a goal to learn something new about the subject of the trade show. Who knows—you may just find yourself another passion in life!
