Dealing with the weather as a Las Vegas Photographer

One of the most important elements you’ll need to consider as a Las Vegas photographer is the weather. As any Las Vegas photographer knows, the weather in Vegas is not always optimal for outdoor photoshoots, especially if you plan on bringing props or you need to have lots of equipment with you. Let’s take a closer look at how you can deal with the weather as a Las Vegas photographer, season-by-season.

Summertime

Summer can sometimes be a decent time to do outdoor photoshoots, but more often than not it’s simply too hot to do proper outdoor photography. Your equipment can get overheated and damaged and the subject of your photography likely won’t want to spend much time outdoors. When you can, head for indoor spaces in the summer.

Wintertime

The winter isn’t blisteringly hot like the summer, but there is one element that winter brings that no Las Vegas photographer wants to deal with: winds! High winds are common in the winter, so you may find yourself trying to hold down equipment (or yourself!) in the middle of a shoot. For this reason, winter isn’t always the best time to head outdoors either.

Spring and Fall

The best time to do outdoor photoshoots as a Las Vegas photographer is in the spring and fall when the temperatures are mild and you won’t have to deal with extremely hot temperatures or gale-force winds. This makes it the ideal time to head outside for all sorts of photoshoots, without having to worry about your equipment or the subject of the photos getting overworked.

And remember: always make sure to keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to a shoot. You never know when it may suddenly turn windy, rainy, or anything else that could impact your ability to photograph outdoors.
