Las Vegas Event Photographer – Shoot Raw, Unless the photos are the same day
As a professional Las Vegas photographer, you should already be using Lightroom for your photographs. Lightroom helps bring out all those little details in photos that help it look crisp, more professional, and all around better. It’s well known in Las Vegas photographer circles that RAW photos look much better when put through Lightroom than JPEG. But when you’re working as a Las Vegas corporate photographer, there are considerations to keep in mind that may change whether or not you shoot your photos in RAW or JPEG.
The primary consideration is a simple one: When are the photographs due?
As a Las Vegas corporate photographer, you will have some clients who want their photos as quickly as possible. This could be within a few hours or by the end of the day, or even as soon as directly after the event is over. In this case, it is better to shoot in JPEG than in RAW, because RAW photos will take much longer to process. It could take up to 5 hours–or more!–for RAW photos to export and your Las Vegas corporate photographer client may not want to wait that long.
Another consideration to keep in mind is whether or not the client wants the RAW files. Some Las Vegas corporate photographer clients will want the RAW files for their own purposes, while others would prefer JPEG. It’s best to communicate with your photographer client beforehand to ensure you are on the same page.
If your client isn’t sure what they want, it’s best from a photographer’s perspective to recommend that you shoot in RAW and send them the processed images later. As any Las Vegas corporate photographer knows, shooting in RAW results in better-looking photos and better results.
Remember: if the photos are due the same day (or sometimes right after the event!) then shoot in JPEG. Otherwise, shoot in RAW for best results.
